Pony Stud
The Highland Pony History
A strong and hardy native of Scotland ranging in height from 13 to 14.2 h.h. it is one of the most versatile of the British native breeds. Highlands are powerful, well built animals with short, broad heads, cresty necks and compact muscular bodies. Their sure-footedness, willingness to work, docile nature and immense stamina make them ideal for work over rough, often inhospitable terrain. They make excellent 'family' ponies, many being natural jumpers, and are very easily broken to harness.
Highland ponies are a great all rounder and well suited to both children and adults alike. For us older and not so agile women they're so much closer to the ground!!

Longridge Farm
About six years ago I saw my first Highland Pony on TV, and thereafter I was hooked. My preference for Arabians was suddenly abandoned and I was soon making arrangements for my first Highland Pony purchase - Misty. My arabians are still here and much loved - but they are now outnumbered!!
Misty was soon followed by her half-sister Cherrie and our colt Montgomery (currently out on lease and standing at stud in WA), and then Venus arrived in foal to McMillan. Our first foal, Rob Roy, was born in September 2005 and our second foal, Fiona, was born in December 2007.
Venus produced another colt foal, William, in August 2008 (to the late Ben Nevis) and that completes our Highland Pony family - for the moment!!!
